Let’s look at some of the features of the new Road to Health Booklet.

Themes

There are five themes, each with their own colour and special icon to make them easy to identify.

The themes are:

  1. Nutrition
  2. Love
  3. Protection
  4. Healthcare
  5. Extra Care

The themes cover every area of early childhood development. So the booklet is grouped around children’s needs rather than specific services.

Each theme includes:

  • Messages for caregivers (which you should point out and explain).
  • Sections for you to complete (like growth charts and immunisation records).
  • Messages for health workers. (Not included in all sections).

Important Pages

As you start using the booklet, note these key pages:

  • Inside front cover: Advise the caregiver to fill in the child’s contact details and paste (or draw) a picture of the child.
